The Best Catholic Schools in Mississauga – SUSI School Rankings
As a Realtor, I should know where the best Catholic schools in Mississauga are FOR PARENTS MOVING INTO THE CITY. That is, those Catholic school districts that are the best combination of school competency and neighbourhood.
Yet the “best” Mississauga Catholic schools can be difficult to determine. As you may know, most of the Mississauga Catholic school rankings you see elsewhere on the Internet are simply regurgitated by other real estate agents from the Fraser Institute’s School Report Card.
The problem with this is two-fold for Catholic schools: Firstly, the Fraser Institute (unfairly) spits out its rankings sorted only by last year’s score. Thus, there is no consistency reflected in its year-to-year published rankings. (They have 5-year scores, but they are not sorted as such by default.)
And also, the Fraser Institute does not factor district demographics into their rankings, which I believe is a major pitfall to their ultimate relevancy.
I believe that consistency in a school’s performance is imperative to PARENTS who are seeking long-term residency in Mississauga for their families. Thus, I set out to do my OWN research to determine what really were the best Catholic schools in Mississauga for parents… and created the SUSI Rankings.
For 2018, the best Catholic elementary schools in Mississauga are:
THE BEST CATHOLIC SCHOOLS IN MISSISSAUGA 2019
|#3||St Rose of Lima||K-8|
|#6||St John of the Cross||K-8|
|#7||St John XXIII||K-8|
The rankings here are the amalgamation of two separate reports I have compiled: SUSI’s 7-year EQAO Rankings and SUSI’s Potency Rankings.
SUSI’s 7-year EQAO Rankings are mostly self-explanatory. In order to measure the consistency of a school’s performance, I compiled the scores from the last 7 years of EQAO scores for each of Mississauga’s 65 Catholic schools. The more recent the year, the more weight that year’s EQAO scores were given.
SUSI’s Potency Rankings attempt to measure how well a school’s principals and teachers are performing vis-a-vis how well they are EXPECTED to perform, given their district’s socio-economic lot. In other words, schools in districts that have parents with a higher-than-average income and education level, and that have less ESL students and single parents, are EXPECTED to perform better than their less-fortunate counterparts. If a school isn’t performing up to expectation, that should be noted. Likewise, if a school is performing well ABOVE expectation, that should also not just be noted, but congratulated!
The combination of these two studies (along with a “consistency factor”) provide me with the crucial information I need to help young families find the best Mississauga Catholic school district for them to live in. I publish my opinion of the Best Catholic Elementary Schools in Mississauga a couple months after I determine them for myself – but of course the full version of the latest Catholic rankings are always available for counsel towards my current home-seeking clients.
There are 65 Catholic elementary schools in Mississauga. Do you need your family to be in a recommended school district? What kind of neighbourhood are you looking for? How about a French Immersion schooling – is that for you? What about high schools??
How about the district itself? What are the demographics of that district? I am the only Realtor in Mississauga that has specific demographics for EACH, INDIVIDUAL district. This kind of information might be very useful to young, home-seeking parents.
