Etobicoke Catholic School Rankings: Etobicoke’s Best Catholic Schools
The Catholic school rankings in Etobicoke is a list that concerned parents with young families seek out to determine what the “best” Catholic schools in Etobicoke are these days. From St. Benedict in the North to St. Teresa in the South, to all the way back up to Transfiguration in Central Etobicoke, there are a number of intriguing options to choose from for English-track schooling in this city. But perhaps you may be looking for a French Immersion school like Our Lady of Peace. And are you supposed to worry about high schools at this point when your children may not even be in Grade 2 yet? There is so much to consider!
Furthermore, it’s possible that the schools that accomplished the best EQAO pass-rates last year (which is how the Fraser Institute groups their rankings by default, but not us) might NOT be the “best” school for your child, overall. Because not only does consistency have to be measured, but also the happiness the parent feels with their home! This is just the beginning of the things we consider when finding a home in a great neighbourhood for our young family clients.
We have rankings for all the Catholic elementary schools in this city – including St. Elizabeth at #13, and St. Marcellus at #20 – these ones here are only the ones in the Top 5. And this a great start to determining, for our young families, what the best Catholic schools in Etobicoke really are (in our informed opinions). Here are the top elementary schools for the 2018 SUSI Rankings for Catholic schools in the city of Etobicoke:
THE BEST CATHOLIC SCHOOLS IN ETOBICOKE 2018
|#1||St. Clement (C)||K-8|
|#2||Holy Angels (SC)||K-8|
|#3||Nativity of Our Lord (C)||K-8|
|#4||Christ the King (S)||K-8|
Again, of all the ranked Catholic schools in Etobicoke – these are only the ones in the Top Five (and do not include the three Eastern Rite schools in the area). But after digesting these rankings, perhaps you might be surprised of how many of these schools on the full list that we actually recommend to the concerned parents that make up the majority of our clients.
On our website, we have school rankings for Toronto, Scarborough, and North York, as well as for Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Milton, Georgetown, Burlington, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, and York Region North including Aurora & Newmarket elsewhere on the site.
The rankings here are the amalgamation of two separate reports we have compiled: SUSI’s 7-year EQAO Rankings and SUSI’s Potency Rankings.
SUSI’s 7-year EQAO Rankings are mostly self-explanatory. In order to measure the consistency of a school’s performance, we compiled the scores from the last 7 years of EQAO scores for each of Etobicoke’s Catholic schools. The more recent the year, the more weight that year’s EQAO scores were given.
SUSI’s Potency Rankings attempt to measure how well a school’s principals and teachers are performing vis-a-vis how well they are EXPECTED to perform, given their district’s socio-economic lot. In other words, schools in districts that have parents with a higher-than-average income and education level, and that have less ESL students and single parents, are EXPECTED to perform better than their less-fortunate counterparts. If a school isn’t performing up to expectation, that should be noted. Likewise, if a school is performing well ABOVE expectation, that should also not just be noted, but congratulated!
The combination of these two studies (along with a “consistency factor”) provide us with the crucial information we need to help young families find the best Etobicoke Catholic school district for them to live in. We publish our opinion of the Best 10 Catholic Elementary Schools in Etobicoke a couple months after we determine them for ourselves – but of course the full version of the latest rankings are always available for counsel towards our current home-seeking clients.
